Black Boy Fly is a cinematic test film created to experiment with music video-inspired visuals, camera movement, and editorial pacing. Featuring Simon Okullu, the project served as a low-pressure creative session focused on exploring new techniques, refining visual instincts, and continuing to build experience through hands-on production.

Originally, the shoot was intended to incorporate a multi-frame compositing effect that would create the illusion of multiple versions of the subject interacting within the same frame. While the concept ultimately didn't produce the desired result, the project naturally evolved into an opportunity to focus on strong compositions, dynamic camera angles, and visual rhythm instead.

Filmed using available light on an overcast day, the production embraced a simple, stripped-back approach that allowed the emphasis to remain on experimentation rather than perfection. Projects like this are an important part of my creative process—providing the freedom to test ideas, learn from what works (and what doesn't), and continue sharpening the visual language that informs larger narrative and commercial productions.
